Professional practice in complex trauma processing, men’s and boys work, and adolescent and family therapies have been the focus of my working life for over 35 years. I lived and worked in Europe for 8 years during which time I undertook further studies at the Institute of Family Therapy based at London University and also completed studies in Grief Therapy at Cruse Bereavement Care, London. I am an accredited Mental Health Social Worker, registered with Medicare Australia. I have provided training over many years in Family Group Conferencing at state-wide as well as national forums. I have worked in private practice since 2001.

Work with people referred by a medical practitioner under a mental health plan: I specialize in assessing and working with people experiencing trauma, dissociative disorders, reactive attachment disorder, anxiety, family conflict, relationship problems, adjustment issues, depression, day-to-day life crises, addictions, conduct disorder, panic, suicidal thoughts, cross-cultural transitions, grief, personality disorders and psychosis. I can provide a range of evidence-based, psycho-social strategies including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Problem Solving, Grief Therapy, Solution Focused approaches, Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, Relaxation and Stress Management, Psycho-Education, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, PMR, Group Work, Family Therapy.
Work with adolescents and families:
I offer a practical, action-orientated approach to enabling families to gain fresh perspectives on their difficulties, addressing in particular the relationships and patterns of interactions which cause repeated problems in their lives. I assist families to develop a clear understanding of the changes they can implement in order to move forward and enhance well-being; to enable changes in their thinking and communication; to find approaches to problem solving and conflict resolution; and to reconfigure family boundaries, rules and structures.
